Look for the latest hit from director Sam Raimi, of the Spider-Man trilogy fame, to direct Legendary Pictures new movie based on Blizzard’s World of Warcraft game. The COO of Blizzard Entertainment, Paul Sams had this to say about Raimi: “"From our first conversation with Sam, we could tell he was the perfect choice." Apparently, this picture has been in the works for some time, as Sams indicates: “, “Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures have a shared vision for this film and we searched at length to find the very best director to bring that vision to life.” The Academy Awards Committee shares Sams enthusiamsim for Raimi, nominating him five times. Raimi directed “Drag Me To Hell”, a horror picture. Produced the vampire movie “30 Days of Night”, and both wrote and directed “The Evil Dead”. Raimi seems thrilled about the project. “At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story.” Raimi is also excited about the team, “I am thirilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen.” Charles Roven, best known for producing the film, “The Dark Knight” will be working closely with Raimi, as will Blizzard’s senior VP of creative development, the talented Chris Metzen. Metzen will co-produce with Raimi and partner, Robert Tapert. When asked about the mainstream audiences reaction to the World of Warcraft feature, COO Sam’s said,”Sam (Raimi) knows how to simultaneously satisfy the enthusiast and mainstream audience that might be experiencing that content for the first time.
