    The classes of DAoC/ Dark Age of Camelot – Archetypes and classes/ The different characters ay play in the DAoC arena The classes in the Dark Age of Camelot account for four basic RPG archetypes. These are the spell casters, Warrior tanks, healing priests and Rogues. Also present in the entire three realms are certain hybrid classes that combine the powers of any two basic archetype. Thus the classes of the DAoC are balanced when the RvR level is taken into account. However, it is not so in other realms. The classes have a substantial difference between them, each having specific roles to play. Also each different class is subject to different play styles and specific point allocation system. The Albion class includes the Cabalist, Armsman, Cleric, Friar, Infiltrator, Heretic, Mercenary, Mauler, Minstrel, Paladin, Necromancer, Scout, Reaver, Wizard, Theurgist and the Nightshade. The Hibernia in the Dark Age of Camelot account for the Animist, Bainshee, Blademaster, Bard, Champion, Druid, Enchanter, Eldritch, Hero, Mauler, Nightshade, Mentalist, Ranger, Warden, Vampiir and Valewalker. The Midgard Subgroup includes Berserker, Bonedancer, Hunter, Healer, Mauler, Runemaster, Shadowblade, Savage, Shaman, Skald, Thane, Spiritmaster, Valkyrie, Warrior and Warlock. The characters under the tank class are purely close ranged fighters with no ability to deal with ranged damage. However they wear the heaviest armors and can cast spell for crowd control thus reducing the enemy’s effectiveness. The melee classes in the Dark Age of Camelot account for division into light and heavy tanks. As evident, the heavy tanks impose the maximum damage on the enemy terrain. They have two handed weapons to indulge in RvR fights and one handed shields for the PvE game play. Lighter tanks have the weapons with dual wield, have the second most heavy armor and can impose maximum damage next to the heavy tanks. In RvR the light tanks are also functional to limit the crowd.
